Within Hydra are many restaurants but the one that you must stop by has to be the restaurant Sunset Hydra. Located on the picturesque island of Hydra this establishment is situated just above the ocean with stunning views. The restaurant and its surroundings is similar to stepping back in time with its beautiful white washed stone walls, cannons and cats prowling the area.
However it is not just the ambiance you have to look forward to but also their dishes. Every day, they serve up the freshest and most delicious catch from local fishermen. So while the restaurant is delicious it is also supporting the local community, embracing sustainable practices. Taking these locally sourced ingredients they pair them with seasonal produce and a few unique imported goods. Sunset Hydra creates a dining experience and culinary adventure like no other.
The first dish I tried which I could not resist due to the Greek octopus being delicious was the octopus carpaccio along with the sea bass ceviche. The Octopus Carpaccio came elegantly adorned with balsamic pearls and a hint of green apple. Each bite of the delicate octopus melted in our mouths, perfectly complemented by the tangy balsamic pearls and the refreshing crunch of the apple. It was a harmonious symphony of flavours that left me desiring more. Personally, one of my favourites was the Sea Bass Ceviche. This dish had tender seabass, paired by the zing of lemon pearls, the subtle notes of yuzu, the herbaceous freshness of coriander leaves, and a gentle kick from the chilli peppers. The explosion of flavours dancing on my palate was nothing short of extraordinary.
Now, let's talk about the main course I adored – a wonderful catch of the day: red snapper served with a refreshing side salad. The fish was cooked to perfection, its succulent flakes practically melting in our mouths. Every bite was a delightful sensation of flavours that left me feeling truly satisfied.
